Wheel loader conversion CAT 906 M and 908 M

When it comes to armouring, the conversion of wheel loaders is one of the supreme disciplines, as the cabs usually have very complicated windscreen contours and the clearance to the moving front end is very limited.
We are therefore very pleased to have succeeded in a very demanding conversion for the Caterpillar skid steer loaders.
The conversion is designed for combat recovery as well as using other materials for military applications. The armouring is based on the original contact surfaces of the cabin and reproduces their contours.
Therefore, the driver's view is not significantly impaired, which is ultimately indispensable for road approval. The driver's cab is strengthened by a complex steel construction so that it can withstand an explosion of the class ER 4 and the bombardment class BR 6 NS. On request, road approval for the converted wheel loader can also be obtained in the course of an individual inspection.
The extension to side armour is also possible.
All details in detail.
Steel construction

The two strong milled T-profiles, which form the backbone of the armour, are clearly visible. Only with these two solid T-profiles in combination with a three-layer sheet metal structure can the explosion protection be realised in the first place. In the event of an explosion, this provides the necessary torsional stiffness and prevents the profiles from bending, which would otherwise result in the immediate breakage of the armoured glass panes and thus in the failure of the protective conversion. We have registered this type of armouring as a utility model.

The steel structure is painted and mounted on the wheel loader. The design challenge was that the entire conversion can be installed in one piece. This makes it possible to pre-assemble the armouring almost completely in our factory, so that it can then be easily installed at the dealer's site. This significantly shortens the assembly time, which benefits the customer.

The conversion has remained so close to the original that it is only at second glance that one can see that the wheel loader has been armoured at all.
